director’s statement
In Honor the Governor’s Honor, down-on-his-luck Private Investigator. Gil T. Hunter finds himself in a high-society mystery gone sideways.
Our comedy noir short is a love letter to classic film noir, filtered through a comedic lens and reframed with a modern voice—one that puts an Asian-American lead in the trench coat of a traditionally white, hard-boiled detective.
I wanted to make something that was sharp, stylish, and showcased my theatrical background. We focused on detailed design, strong performances, and a visual homage to the dark genre while keeping it light and comic.
